Show Us Where You Live "Guest Rooms"

This week on Kelly's Korner, the featured room is the guest room. Well, I am not a fan of my guest room. Sorry, it's pretty boring. My original goal was to go for a nautical theme....I'm a "lake" girl at heart! Well, lack of time and lack of money has caused my room to sit in limbo.

Yes, there is nothing on the walls.....and there are no window treatments. The "no window treatments" tear at my heart!!!!!

Sorry so boring!

When I first put this room together (well somewhat together), I put the guest towels and washcloths in a basket. No one wants to use them though, they always ask me for towels. Oh well, I guess it looks kind of cute.

The one thing I do love about my guest room is the light/fan. It is a smaller version of the one in our master bedroom (which is a whole other room that I MUST tackle).

Wonderful News Wednesday!

As most of you know, we were completely devasted when we found out our one month old daughter not only had a heart defect, but would need a tracheostomy. A trach was something I had experience with when I was in elementary school. A little girl in my class had one. She was my one of my best friends! I helped her wheel around her suction machine and oxygen, I went to speech class with her and watched her learn how to make sound around her trach, and I shared all those best friend moments with her eventhough she couldn't even talk to me. In all honesty though, I knew that a trach was not normal. I beleived that along with a trach also came lots of visual abnormalities...not true, but this was true with my friend.

When Dr. Miyamoto came out to talk to Jeremy and I, photos and pamphelts in hand, I lost it! I refused to sign the consent papers.....I told them they must do something to fix it right then, and that I would not have a child with a trach. As the doctors walked away, I wanted to run after that.....I wanted to stop them...I wanted to shake them....I wanted to tell them that this would not happen in my family!!!! I couldn't move though....I was done. I couldn't even look at my husband anymore at that moment. I was lost in my own mind.

The first time I saw Macy after she received her trach, I couldn't even recognize her due to all the swelling. We spent our entire evening crying by her bed, wondering what the future held for our precious little girl. After making myself get out of bed the next morning, I headed to the hospital alone. I sat next to her bed and cried uncontrollably. The nurses left me alone. The other families left me alone. I needed that!

After mourning the unwanted changes in my life for a few days, I became bound and determined to get her home, get her trachea repaired, and get that trach out. That determination pushed Dr. Miyamoto to perform her tracheoplasty (repair) at the age of 14 months, weighing only about 11 pounds. That determination got Macy's trach removed at the age of 17 months. That determination has now gotten Macy's surgery date for the closing of her stoma (trach hole) set for July 6th!!!!

My child will now be able to swim, go tubing, play in a sandbox, take a "real" shower, and live her life without a bandaid on her neck! We are so excited for this to finally be a reality!!!! God Has Blessed Us So Much!!!!!!!

Hugs, Hugs, and More Hugs!

Social events are the most common times for hugs. Just like Saturday at my sister-in-law's college graduation open house. Congrats Jessica!!!

As I watched people come and go, hug and not hug... I started really thinking about all the different types of hugs. I like hugs! Not a hug machine by any means, but I don't mind them one bit....well that is unless they turn akward. Let's admit it though, it's not hard for a hug to turn akward. Here are some of the different types of hugs I came up with, and this just proves....hugs are a little on the weird side!

The "Traditional" Hug
One arm up, one arm down. Also known as the diagonal hug. This hug is the most common hug, and commonly takes place between family and good friends. This rarely ever turns akward.

The "Man" Hug
Men don't like to hug. Okay, maybe that is not entirely true, but they don't think it is socially appropriate, especially man to man. Just like my husband never cries....he has allergies. Yeah right! Anyway, the "man" hug involves the shake of a hand, and pat of the shoulder with the other hand. It's the manly thing to do!

The "I Don't Like To Hug" Hug
You always come in contact with people that don't like to hug, but you don't find that out until you are in mid hug with them. They lightly drape their arms around you and lightly pat your shoulder blades. Akward!!!

The "Squeezer" Hug
This is the hug most of us dread, unless you are the "squeezer". This is the person you see coming, and try to run the other way. This is the hug where your face starts to get red and hot from the lack of oxygen, and your arms and hands start to get numb from the lack of blood flow. Three words for you "squeezers" out there, "LET ME BREATH!"

The "Drunk Dangler" Hug
Gotta love those friends who are the drunk huggers. They get so lit, and start passing out hugs like they are going out of style. A good song comes on....they dangle. A good joke is told....they dangle. You tell them they've had enough and it's time to go home....they dangle. The "drunk dangler" is a classic!

The "Akward" Hug
This hug was never intended to be akward, but strangely turns that way in mid hug. You go in for the "traditional" hug...you know... one arm up, one arm down. Your hugger friend goes in with either both arms up on top or down on bottom. You freak out, try to switch your arms in mid hug, get your arms caught in an akward position, and unfortunately have to remain that way until the hug expires! Totally akward!!!

The "Exciting News" Hug
This nhug usually transpires after some sort of good news, "We're getting married", "We're having a baby!", etc, etc. This is the traditional hug with a spin. The huggee grabs you in "traditional" hold, except this time they hold on tight, and rock you back in forth, back in forth, back in forth. Are we dancing or something?

The "Hug Myself" Hug
Okay, this is one many of you might not know about. I challenge you to give it a shot!!! Stick your arms straight out...come on....no ones watching.....and if someone is....WHO CARES! Now wrap those arms right around yourself, and give yourself the biggest hug ever! Now doesn't that feel good!?!?!?! Best way to start your morning if you ask me!!!!

To Hug Or Not To Hug.....That's The Question!!!

Okay....you get into one of those scenerios where you stop and think......to hug or not to hug. You start to have a mini panic attack trying to decide what you should do, and what the outcome may be.

Has one of these ever happened to you?

The Wedding Hug
You're at a wedding. You know the bride well, but the groom not so much. Your so hoping for a quick getaway, when here they come, back in to dismiss each guest row by row. You start thinking to yourself, "Do I give the groom a hug?" So you sit there watching as they dismiss other guests, and start comparing your relationship with the groom to the relationships of the other guests that have already been dismissed. "Jackie hugged the groom, she's friends with the bride. Sarah didn't hug the groom, but I thought she knew him better than me." Comparing yourself only gets you more confused. They are only 2 rows ahead of you know.....what are you going to do? Trust me....been there....done that! I always go for the more conservative approach, and stick my hand out for a shake. I usually get roped in for a hug!

The Dinner at the Boss' House Hug
You attend dinner at your boss' house. The dinner was great....great food, great company, and then you go to leave. Okay, this is your boss, but you were at his house for dinner. Do you shake hands and say thanks? Do you give him the "man" hug? Do you go in for the "traditional" hug, and hope it doesn't turn out "awkward"? What's one to do???

HUGS....can't live with 'em, and live without 'em.

Baby On My Mind

Okay, so I totally have baby on my mind lately. I have been noticing lots of baby items that just weren't around when I had Macy, and I just can't wait to try them!

Here are my top favorites!

Tummy Tubs

The Tummy Tub has been the hit in other countries, and just recently made its way to the U.S. The Tummy Tub is designed to provide the infant with comfort, warmth, and the position of the womb. It positions your baby in the fetal position, water stays warm, and it has been proven to reduce the stress on a baby of taking a bath (feeling exposed to the world). How cute!!!!

Better yet, you can also purchase the Tummy Tub stool to ease your back pain from bending over.

G-Diapers

With Macy, I had enough stress in my life, and that I didn't want to bother with cloth diapers. Although, deep down, I am a earth-saving, eco-friendly, cloth diapering kind of person. I found a great alternative to the traditional cloth diapers.

Did you know it takes a disposable diaper up to 500 years to decompose in a landfill? Well, the inserts in the g-diapers will decompose in 90 days, but they are also flushable! I already bought the starter pack....I can't wait to try them out!!!

So far, I am feeling great overall.....just some morning sickness! I can't wait to be done with this first trimester!
