Wedding Crashers

Okay, so we weren't exactly "wedding crashers" this weekend...since we were invited, but we sure brought the house down! One of our good friends from college got married this weekend, so we packed up the mini-van and headed to Holland, Michigan.

We dropped the girls off at my parents. I have to admit, I was VERY nervous to leave them (okay, maybe just McKenna). This was McKenna's first night away, and it required her to drink from bottles for 24 hours. Yikes!

After some Friday night skiing, a baby who was awake every two hours, and Jeremy and I feeling like we had already pulled an all-nighter, we headed out bright and early Saturday morning with two of our best friends, Jon and Hannah. Hannah and I got to relax in the back of the van watching "The Hangover", which is just as funny the 6th time at the 1st!

The night was filled with reunions, drinking, dancing, and pumping. Yes, I had to pump 4 times during our trip. Nothing like sitting in a hotel bathroom pumping like a milking cow during a night away.

And all that worrying over my little (almost) 7 month old, was for nothing. My parents did a fantastic job with the girls, McKenna slept through the night-only waking once, and she took her bottles like a champion :) Thanks again Mom and Dick for allowing Jeremy and I to party like it was 1999 last night!!!

Here are a few photos from our trip, and a little video from the dance floor. Yes, Jeremy is in the video...he has on the blue shirt.

Here we are still behaving like adults :)

Once Jeremy and Jon hit the dance floor, it was never the same!

The Daddy Interview

I interviewed Macy to see just what she thought about Jeremy.

Here Goes:

My Dad’s name is: Jeremy.

My Dad is four years old.

His job is to work.

If I could spend a whole day with my Dad I would beat on him.

If I could get my Dad a present I would buy him a mask.

I like when my Dad scares me.

My favorite game to play with Daddy is Candy Land and Elefun, both of them. I love puzzles today.

His favorite thing to wear is a baseball shirt.

Daddy’s favorite thing to eat is chicken nuggets.

Daddy looks like Jon. (Our friend)

Daddy is special because I love him!

Happy Father's Day!!!!

Where Have I Been?

Sometimes I am simply in Lala Land, but not this time. I have been seriously BUSY! Lots of changes are happening in the VanVleet household. As some of you may have heard, Jeremy got a promotion. As a matter of fact, he just started his new position today! We are so PROUD of him!

Some big career moves have also been made with me. Yes, I have been home on maternity leave since November. I extended that maternity leave in March and was planning on returning to teaching in July (when the next school year starts). Well, things have changed! I love being at home with my girls, and we have made the big decision to KEEP me at home! I have found a part-time job that will allow me to stay home most of the time, and work 2 days a week. This job is with Indiana First Steps, and I will be working as a Developmental Therapist for children with disabilities (ages 0-3). Yay!!!

McKenna is keeping me very busy. She is really wanting to CRAWL! I sit her down on the floor, and within seconds she is on her belly pulling herself around with her arms. She is still getting mainly breastmilk, and but is eating one meal of baby food a day. She has found her voice, and it is nice and LOUD. She loves to yell, "Geeee", and sometimes (usually when she is angry), says, "Mamamamama".

Macy is getting to be such a big girl. She loves to listen in on Mommy and Daddy's conversations, and chimes in with her most adult-like comments. She loves music, and won't stop singing and dancing when music is on. On any given day, you can find us singing and dancing in Macy's bedroom or in the kitchen. She is picking up very quickly on the sounds of all the letters of the alphabet. She can write "Macy", "Mom", and "Dad". "McKenna" might take her a little longer to learn.

I'll leave you with their most recent pictures: Macy 4 1/2 yrs., McKenna 6 months.

Are they beautiful?!?!?!?!
