p90x

I am sure most of you have heard of the p90x craze. It's been around for a few years, and Jeremy and I are very late to jump on the bandwagon. Taking care of your body is SO important! Having young children at home, make working out so much more difficult. We are on Week 3 of the plan, and still going strong....even considering my bum ankle (that's a whole other story).






The hardest part for me is finding the time to workout. I am a mother, a wife, I work, and I am going back to school to get my Masters. This stuff keeps me very busy, but now I have to find 1-1 1/2 hours each day to work out. Jeremy and I been working out each night after McKenna goes to sleep. Macy watches, laughs, and uses this time as her downtime before she heads to bed. I love doing this because it is something we do together, and I have a workout partner!

Jeremy and I use the resistance bands, pull-up bar, and weights for these workouts. We workout for 6 days and take 1 day off. We have worked our schedule to have Firday nights be our off day. We always seem busy on Friday nights, and if we eat dinner out for the week, it's usually on a Friday night.

Here is a sample of a typical week:

Day 1 – Chest and Back (60 min), plus Ab Ripper X (16 min)
Day 2 – Plyometrics (60 min) *hardest workout in the program, in my opinion*
Day 3 – Shoulders and Arms (60 min), Ab Ripper X (16 min)
Day 4 – Yoga X (90 min)
Day 5 – Legs and Back (60 min), Ab Ripper X (16 min)
Day 6 – Kenpo X (60 min)
Day 7 – Rest

There are 13 discs, and each disc has a different workout. What I love about this is that each day is different and focuses on a different area of your body. Each week changes as you progress through the 13 week program.

Unless you are an active person, and are in decent shape, I would NOT recommend this program. It is very intense! We love it though!!!!!!

Fun at the Fair!

We love the fair, especially our county fair! It's small, breezy, has shade, and small attendance. We headed over on Monday night for some fun at the fair!

We let the girls ride some rides first. To our surprise, McKenna was big enough to go on some rides :) She loved them so much that she cried everytime she had to get off!

After rides, we played the famous mouse game......the girls LOVED the mouse, although we never won anything.

You can't go to the fair without fair food! Macy enjoyed some nachos, Jeremy and McKenna shared some chicken strips and french fries, and I had my favorite, A CORNDOG! Yum!

You would think my girls' favorite part of the fair would've been the rides, but the rides took a second place to the animals. We walked through all the barns with sheep, cows, horses, and chickens. The best part of it all was located in one of the barns. They had a fenced in petting area. My girls got to pet sheep, goats, pigs, and a cow. They loved it!!!!!!!!

They even got to be farmers for the day!

Our trip ended with a pony ride and a funnel cake! Yay and yum! What a great night for our family!

String Bean Continues to Grow Up!

Sometimes I just want her to slow down, yet I am so proud of every milestone she reaches. This weekend while at the lake, Macy lost her first tooth!

Grandma was watching tv, Grandpa and Jeremy were playing cards, and Macy and I were upstairs brushing her teeth. When she opened her mouth, I said, "Macy that tooth is just hanging there, pull it out!" I took her flosser and tugged on the tooth a little bit. It started to bleed. She tried to grab and twist with her little fingers. I said, "I can't!" I went to try to grab it, touched it with my finger and it fell out!!! We started screaming with excitement. I grabbed a tissue that she could hold to her mouth and we ran downstairs to tell everyone! Grandma, Grandpa, and Daddy were so excited!!!!!!

Luckily, my mom had just finished a special tooth pillowcase for Macy. So we placed Macy's tooth in her special pillowcase.



She went to bed with all smiles, waiting on The Toothfairy :)

Sunday morning when Macy woke up, she came downstairs and said, "It looks like The Toothfairy forgot about me." She failed to look in the pocket on her pillowcase, and I honestly don't think she understood what the toothfairy was going to do. She went back up and located her dollar :) She was one happy kiddo!

I know for all parents, each milestone is amazing! I often find myself so amazed and proud to the point that the littlest things bring tears to my eyes......there were times when Jeremy and I never knew if we would make it to those milestones with Macy! Everyday is another miracle, and she is one amazing little girl.....who is heading off to Kindergarten in 2 weeks. Yikes! Another milestone to shed some tears with :)

BIG GIRL!

It seems like everytime I do an update about the girls, one of them adds something new.

On Tuesday, a friend returned our toddler bed that I had let her use. McKenna loved it, so we decided to let her sleep on it that night. She went right to bed, never got out, and slept from 7:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Yesterday she took her nap in it, and slept last night in it again. She did AMAZING!


SO, her crib is gone, and she is sleeping like a BIG GIRL now!!! She is so proud of her new bed, and we are so proud of her!

Why do they grow up so fast?

My Girls!

My girls are getting so big! I haven't given a "skills" update lately, so here we go!

Macy (5 1/2 years old)

• starts Kindergarten on August 10th. We made the decision to send her to our township school vs. a charter school. We really want her to have classmates in the neighborhood :) The charter school had an extended day and school year calendar. Which meant she would have longer days and go 200 days instead of 180. We felt like that was too much for Kindergarten.





• is continuing to grow...at her own pace. She looks older, acts older, and keeps up with her peers just great!





• knows all her letters, sounds, and numbers. She is able to write and sound out simple words, and we have been working a lot on phonics by sounding out nonsense words :) She does a great job at sequencing and patterns.





• Macy's speech is great! She speaks quietly around new people sometimes, but is using correct sentence form, and is even correcting herself when she says plurals and pronouns wrong.





• is one of the most caring little girls I know. She deeply cares for others, loves to help out, and has a special place in her heart for others with special needs. She makes me so proud!





• now has 2 loose teeth!!!!! Her two bottom front teeth are loose! I almost cried last night when we discovered them....it really makes her "growing up" even more real!
  

McKenna (19 months old)

• is talking a lot! She says numerous two-syllable words like "Mommy", "Daddy", "Sissy", "Tucker", etc. She has just started putting 2 or more words together such as "Daddy bath", and "I did it". She has such an adorable voice!





• McKenna was moved in May to the 2's room at school. Talk about growing up.....she won't even be 2 until the end of November.





• She has pooped in the potty once, and pottied 2 times. She now holds herself after she has gone potty so we know she needs changed. I think she is ready for potty training :)





• After 13 months of breastfeeding, and then 4 months of a bottle, McKenna finally stopped drinking from her bottle at bedtime. It was really hard to stop the breastfeeding (since it was her comfort), and then I felt so bad taking her bottle away too. But it finally happened :) Although, she still sucks a pacifier at times. That is going to be hard to break!





• McKenna is such a piggy! She is eating us out of house and home! She must have a great metabolism though because she is only in the 25th percentile for weight and height. She loves most foods, and is just not getting to like meat (which she would chew and spit out).





• Physically, McKenna is moving around like no other 19th month old I know. She is walked at 9 3/4 months, and has been on the move since. She can run very fast, and is able to climb just about anything. She climbs our swingset and goes down the slide with no problem at all!
  

My girls are getting so big!!!!!

Another bit of news to share.......Jeremy's sister, Jessica and her husband Nate, just found out they are going to be welcoming a BABY BOY into their home in late November! We are so excited to have a little boy in the family :) Jessica's pregnancy is going great, and they are very excited! His name is going to be Elijah Channing Wishard! I can't wait to cuddle this little boy!!!!!!

Fun in the Sun!

We finally have a weekend at home. So far it has consisted of playing on the swingset, bike rides, walks around our pond, dinner on the back patio, and a trip to the icecream shop! It has been a blast! One of the favorites so far was playing in the backyard in the sprinkler. Well, Macy played in the sprinkler. If you haven't heard yet, McKenna hates water! She dislikes the pool, she dislikes the lake, and she even dislikes water sprinkled on her! BUT....she loves the bath, loves drinking water, and loves her water table. Strange kiddo!

Tomorrow, the girls and I are heading to Mamaw's for a swim in the pool.....or in McKenna's case maybe just a "stand by the pool and look cute", lol!
