The Bird

Here's a story that might make you laugh...or cry (in Macy's case).....for your Monday. So last week, Big Mac and I were heading to pick-up Macy from school. As I was driving, my incredible speed must have stirred up some birds on the side of the road. The took off flying, in front of me, and I heard *THUD*. I thought, oh crap, I think I just hit a bird. I looked in my rear-view mirror....no bird on the road. That's a great sign! We picked Macy up, and headed out the door. I was chatting with another mom when I got a glimpse at the front of my van. It looked something like this...

Yes...the bird was in my grill....Ahhhhhhh!!!!! In mid conversation I said to the other mom, "I did hit a bird!!!" She said, "What? How do you know?" I said, "LOOK!" We both stood there looking in shock. Our shocked looks were nothing compared to the look on Macy's face. Not only did she look shocked, but she looked like she might vomit. After 2 minutes of convincing Macy it was okay to get into the van, she climbed in and off we went. The minute we pulled out of the parking lot, I hear crying coming from one of the seats behind me. It, of course, was Macy. She said, "But Mom, why did you hit that bird?" We had a long discussion about what happened, and how I didn't mean to hit the bird.

In the meantime, I called Jeremy. He simply told me to take a stick and "pluck" it out. Are you kidding me? I was not even about to pull the van in the garage!

That incident happened around 11:30 a.m.........5 hours later when Jeremy pulled down our road, what did he see? Yes, our van was parked in the road. I wasn't kidding when I said I was not hoinh to pull it into the garage. He grabbed an old broom handle and "plucked" that bird out. And then left it on the road! Seriously, shouldn't we bury it or something? Oh well, I wasn't about it touch it. I was just happy I could park my van back in the garage!

To make matters worse, we had another animal incident the very next day. Jeremy was holding onto our new gecko, Mr. Spock. Mr. Spock decided it would be a good idea to hop off Jeremy's hand onto the floor. Either he got scared when he hit the carpet, or he got scared when he saw Tucker...either way, he was scared enough that he dropped his tail. It was still hanging on a bit when Jeremy tossed him back in his cage.

The weirdest part of it all was that Mr. Spock then grabbed his tail with his mouth, pulled it off the rest of the way, and ATE IT! After the shock of watching all of that I realized Macy, once again, was crying. "Honey, why are you crying? It's going to be okay."

After she finally calmed herself down she explained, "I was crying because I thought we were going to have to take him to the emergency room, or flush him down the toilet like our fish!"

Bless her delicate little heart! She is so caring!

Here's a pic of Mr. Spock now....poor little fellow.

Luckily he is suppossed to grow his tail back!

Happy Monday :)

Food Fanatic Friday!!!

We had a yummy favorite for dinner tonight, so I thought I would post it as my recipe this week. Growing up, my mom found great ways to get us to enjoy fish. Tuna casserole and salmon patties were always my favorites!

Salmon Patties

1 can salmon

1 egg

1/2 pack of saltine crackers

Drain salmon and remove all bones. In a bowl mix salmon and egg. Once mixed, add 1/2 pack of crushed saltine crackers. Form into 4 patties.

In a frying pan, heat oil to medium heat. Place patties in pan and cook 6 minutes on each side, until crisp, golden brown. Eat with a fork.

In our house, we usually serve with homemade baked mac and cheese :) Yum, yum! Enjoy!!!!

HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!!

LIFE.....Oh, How The Times Flies!

Yes, I haven't updated in over a week! I just feel so busy. Things are picking up with work again, so I am busy with that. The girls are still fighting illnesses. After McKenna recovered from her upper respiratory infection, ear infection, flu, and RSV she had ALL in the SAME WEEK, she then started doing some funny stuff again. Fluctuating body temps (too high and too low), and then she started having balance issues and dizzy spells.....one that scared us so bad we almost called 911. We discovered she had another ear infection. So after antibiotics and some D Allergy, she started acting normal again.....and now she has another snotty nose. Uggghhh!

I ended up at the docs 2 weeks ago. Most of you who know me know that I don't go to the doctor's unless I am feeling pretty awful. Turns out I had a pretty bad sinus infection. Macy had been holding her own since her 3 week bout of sickness in February, but started a cold a week ago. Finally on Sunday, she started complaining of ear aches and a headache. Dr. R. thinks she has some sort of sinus something going on, therefore we started her on an antibiotic too. She has had 2 doses already and seems to be feeling better! Yay!

Forget all the sickness....we have been having a blast too! My parents came to visit last weekend, and then we also got the pleasure of spending some time with 2 of my nieces and my nephew. We had a blast! Here are some pics from our wonderful visit! I miss them all already!!!!

Parmesan Potatoes

Mmmm..... I love Parmesan Potatoes. This is one of our favorites in our house!

Preheat oven to 350*.

Ingredients:

4-5 potatoes

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup parmesan

1 stick melted butter

Directions:

Peel and cut potatoes into chunks. (I can usually get 6 chucks out of each potato)

In a plastic bag, mix flour and parmesan cheese.

Put all chunks into mixture and shake.

Place all coated chunks into a 9 X 13 pan, and pour melted butter over chunks.

Bake 350* for 1 hour. You will want to turn potatoes over after 30 minutes.

Enjoy :)

A Day In The Life Of Miss Macy!

Looking back over the pics of Macy's day....I realized her days are full of smiles and giggles.....and I LOVE IT!!!!

8:00 a.m. Macy wakes up! She's typically awake before or around 7 a.m. On this day, I had to wake her sleepy head up!

9:00 a.m. Heading to school....all smiles :)

10:00 a.m. Macy is at school.

11:00 a.m. Still in school. Here she is again....all smiles :)

12:00 p.m. Lunchtime!!! Yes, she is ALWAYS trying to find a way to be silly!

1:00 p.m. Rest time. Notice that I don't call it "nap" time with Macy. She's way to big for that, lol! Anyway, on this day, I think she laid there smiling the whole time....and never napped.

2:00 pm. Playing (with the cats). She loves using the feather toy and laser light to play with our cats :)

3:00 p.m. Talking in the phone to Grandma Kelli. She DID NOT want her pic taken. If you look close enough you can see that she is giggling :)

4:00 p.m. Playing in McKenna's car. McKenna was running behind her yelling. I think her "aahhh....mmmaaaa....maaaa" meant, "Get out of my car, Macy!"

5:00 p.m. Workbook pages! This is one of Macy's favorite things to do!!! I'm not going to argue with that!

6:00 p.m. Helping with dinner. Macy is such a good helper at dinner time. She is either helping with one of the food items or setting the table :)

7:00 p.m. Finishing dinner. Usually at least one night a week I have to work late. That means I don't get home until 6:30 p.m. So dinner is later than usual...this was one of those nights.

8:00 p.m. Winding down. Macy usually spends the last 1/2 hour before bedtime reading, playing with her Nintendo DS or her V Reader.

9:00 p.m. Sound asleep :) I'm surprised she doesn't smile in her sleep, lol!

Hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse of my girls' days! They make my life so fun and interesting...and love that NO day is the same :)

A Day In The Life Of McKenna

So I decided to do a little picture project. From the moment McKenna woke up last Wednesday, I took a picture each hour. I thought this would give you all a good idea of what my little 15 month old does during her days. Now If I could only figure out how to get in her head and figure out what she is thinking....that would be a jackpot. Enjoy!!!

7:15 a.m. She's awake!

8:15 a.m. Breakfast Time

9:15 a.m. Getting Dressed! Just got home from dropping Macy off at school. And YES, she thought it would be funny to put her socks in her mouth :)

10:15 a.m. Playing with Mommy!

11:15 a.m. Lunch Time!

12:15 p.m. Heading to the Doctor's Office. Macy and McKenna both had their well-checks :)

1:15 p.m. Hanging out at Dr. R's! Chewing on chapstick after crying her eyes out. No shots this time, just the scare of the stethescope :)

2:15 p.m. Naptime! Sweet Dreams :)

3:15 p.m. Snoozing

4:15 p.m. Still trying to wake up. Resting on Mommy!

5:15 p.m. Fun in the COLD sun!

6:15 p.m. Getting wiped up after dinner. Yes, all this kid does is eat :)

7:15 p.m. Bedtime Routine! Okay, so I have no picture. We get a little busy when it's bedtime routine time, and I totally forgot to get a pic. Sorry!

8:15 p.m. Bedtime! Night Night McKenna!

Stay tuned later this week for a Day in the Life Of Macy!
