Victorious!

May 17, 2009- Little Macy VanVleet has one running style. She likes to get out front and stay there. Well, that is what she attempted to do on Sunday afternoon during her run of the Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run. After missing nap time, being separated from her parents, and waiting 10 long minutes for the race to begin.....some confusion must have set in. Following the sound of "Ready, Set, Go!" Macy got stage fright, stalled for numerous seconds, and finally kicked it into gear when realizing her competitors had passed her by.

As her family cheered her on, she maintained a steady pace similar to that of The Tortoise. Strong and steady to the end, Macy stopped 5 feet short of the finish line, and officially came in 4th....to last! No disappointment from Macy, as she stated at the finish line, "I ran fast!" With a medal around her neck, and tears flowing from her proud family, this little "heart" girl vowed to make a victorious return next year!
