Looking Ahead

We are looking up and looking ahead!  Our tough kid returned to school on Thursday last week, I had 2 phone calls from her school by 10:00 a.m.  She wanted to go back to school as soon as possible, and just be normal, but she was having a lot of chest discomfort/pain from the banding.  Our doctors said that it was normal for a few days following surgery, and that she would surely feel it since they banded 4 areas.  I ended up over there on my lunch break giving her some meds.  Poor kid didn't feel good, but held out all day, and then made it through Friday!  Way to go Macy!  She really is unbelievable!  She's had a good week this week so far.

We had the most AMAZING weekend!  We threw our worries and cares out the window, and had a blast together in the freshly fallen snow.  We played in the snow on Saturday for hours, building a snowman, building forts, and having snowball wars.  On Sunday we went to a hill near our house and went sledding, then came home for another snowball war.  Macy felt great!!!  I haven't played in the snow like that for years.  At one time I just laid in the snow, stared at the sky, and let the snowflakes fall on my face.  It was amazing!  We ended each outside play with hot cocoa.  I didn't want the weekend to end.  It was the first time in a month that we all felt so carefree!

We are hoping for another carefree weekend, and just might be snowed in again.  I'll take it.  On top of it, it's MLK Day on Monday which means we are all off work and school.  We made plans to take the girls to see the Harlem Globetrotters.  It should be a blast!

GI called today, and we have our next scope scheduled for Macy.  She heads back on February 6th.  It will be just like last time.  If she needs any banding done, she will stay overnight.  If she doesn't need banding, she can go home that day later.  We will make a follow-up plan following the scope determined by what they see when they get in there.  I think they would like to try to make it to her big surgery in March without another scope beforehand.  We just want her to be in the best shape she can be going into this March surgery.

McKenna is doing great, and is officially back in 3 sports.  Basketball runs until March, indoor softball for her Alliance team just started, and this week brought indoor soccer training back into our lives.  Busy, busy!  She loves it though!  This sweet girl has brought home straight the entire school year, and has had perfect attendance so far.  Yes, she even made it to school ON TIME the day that we had the emergency with Macy.  We are hoping to get Macy back into some indoor golf lessons at a new facility up until her surgery in March.  Due to her limitations and abdominal incision following surgery, she will have to take off following that for a few months.  She is staying busy with Girl Scouts, Student Council, and Drama Club right now.  Jeremy has been busy coaching.  He coaches basketball and softball.  This spring he will be coaching 2 softball teams at the same time.  Should be interesting, lol!  And me....well I am busy teaching, as well as being a medical mama and family manager.  I get paid with hugs and kisses, and the occasional outing to Bonefish Grill :)  I'll take it!

Thanks for checking in on us!  Continue to send prayers our way to keep Macy safe until her next scope in February, and until her March surgery.
