Here We Go....

We head back to school tomorrow.  I am terrified, however God is protecting my sweet girl.  I can feel it!  I have so much faith that everything is going to be okay!

We have a plan put into place for school in case of an emergency, and the school nurse and admin are meeting tomorrow morning to make sure that everyone is on the same page.  We are so blessed to have such caring staff at Macy's school!

Macy is doing good right now.  We are still taking the new meds they started her on when we left the hospital, she is on a semi-soft foods diet, and we are watching her closely.  She went for pre-op labs today, and her surgery was moved to January 8th.  So we will head early next week.  If they do any banding in her esophagus she will stay overnight, if not she will go home that day.

I talked with Dr. Superina's nurse, Joan, about the upcoming big surgery in March.  Depending on how Macy is doing, they will wake her up immediately  or soon after her surgery.  If you recall her last liver surgery, she was paralyzed for days between her two surgeries, and then woken up a few days after the 2nd surgery.  We were inpatient for 17 days.  This will be different since it's not a 2 stage surgery.  She will most likely be in the hospital for 7-10 days, and will leave on some sort of blood med.  He typically sticks his Rex Shunt patients on Plavix which makes your platelets not sticky to prevent clots, or Coumadin which thins your blood.  We are pulling for Plavix because Coumadin requires maintenance blood draws often and bleeding concerns since it's a blood thinner.

Continue to pray for our girl and all of the challenges she faces in the next 3 months!
